The narrative that armies of fans based in England sent racist messages to black footballers was a manufactured moral panic.
The vast majority of the messages were sent from South Asia and the Middle East.
But now the state gets more power and the mob can increase its ideological purges.
Mistrial declared in the Lindsay Clancy case.
A Massachusetts jury could not reach a unanimous verdict after seven days of deliberations in the trial of Lindsay Clancy, the former nurse charged with murdering her three young children.
Clancy admitted she strangled 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan in their Duxbury home in January 2023. Her defense argued she was not criminally responsible due to postpartum psychosis and overmedication. Prosecutors said she planned the killings and knew right from wrong.
The jury reported being deadlocked multiple times. Reports indicate an 11-1 split, with one juror refusing to follow the judge’s instructions on reasonable doubt. Judge William Sullivan said he would declare a mistrial and gave the defense one hour to seek an emergency appeal.
Clancy remains in custody. Prosecutors now decide whether to retry the case, pursue a plea, or drop the charges.
